According to Shao Zhenrun, division chief of Pesticide & Machine Department of National Agricultural Technical Extension & Service Center (NATESC), China's insecticide demand is forecasted to reach 124,900 tonnes in 2011, down about 1.4% year on year while the total national pesticide demand will reach 308,200 tonnes in 2011, up 2.69% year on year.

Guided by Pesticide Industrial Policy, the management of industrial agricultural base, such as large grain, cotton and vegetable planting base will be transformed from extensive to intensive in the next five years. New professional organizations engaged in crop protection will bring changes to application, operating mode and consumption pattern of pesticides.

As industry structure of agriculture gradually adjusted, the demand structure of pesticides in China tends to be more reasonable. Demand for insecticide is estimated at about 41% of the total pesticide demand in 2011, lower than 44% in 2010. Owing to heavy rainfall in the middle and northern China, demand for herbicides and fungicides will see obvious increase in 2011.
